Opening Statement

I hesitate to call myself an accessibility expert, but I'm pretty close. I was initially introduced to the concepts on the very first day of my very first job out of college in 1998. The project manager I was working for pointed out that I had not provided the required eighteen inch clearance on the pull side of a door and so my education in accessibility began.

Like any person working in architecture today I have applied accessibility code to every commercial project I have worked on since that first day. Where I branch off toward being an expert is that for six years I managed a project renovating a major national hotel chain's existing hotels to be in compliance with the American's with Disabilities Act of 1990. The experience of working within the limitations of an existing hotel was perfect training on all the intricacy of the accessibility code.

This blog is about sharing my experience with my readers. If you ever have a question please feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks for reading!
